Moore, 33, married Irons in 2020, shortly after he was released from spending more than two decades in prison. Irons, 42, was wrongfully convicted of burglary and assault by an all-white jury when he was 16; he was tried as an adult.

Irons maintained that he was incorrectly identified in a lineup during the investigation of a home burglary and non-fatal shooting.

Irons and Moore met in 2007, right before the future superstar entered college at the University of Connecticut. They formed a friendship through a prison ministry, after relatives introduced her to his case. Moore spent years fighting for his release.

Moore, a four-time WNBA champ and league MVP, stepped away from basketball at the prime of her decorated career to focus on justice for her now-husband.

He proposed to Moore, who won the 2021 Arthur Ashe Courage Award, the night he was freed.
