Mother and daughters start golden bath and body company
After her fibromyalgia diagnosis, Vee Gilbert found a way to stay golden.
Bath soaks were therapeutic to the chronic pain disorder, relieving Gilbert of her aches. So last year, the former beauty blogger from Oakland, California, created CocoaMade, a bath and body company. The signature products are draped in glitter, gold and sheer beauty.
The best part: she started the business with her two daughters, Alaysia and Jady.
The trio’s shop sells pampering products from lotions and bath bombs to sugar scrubs and masks. If they don’t use gold or sparkles, the triple dose of Black Girl Magic crafts with other jewels and garnishes.
Gilbert first began sharing her products locally, and CocoaMade quickly garnered attention.
She chose the name “because our products are made by the cocoa hands of our little family,” she wrote on her website. She hopes the self-described “bath bling,” which all look absolutely delicious, offers the lush experience she had that motivated her to create the online shop.
