Bronx Native Cardi B Pledges to Cover Funeral Costs for Fire Victims

Cardi B is planning to cover the funeral expenses for the 17 people, including eight children, who died in an apartment fire in her hometown the Bronx.

The deadly blaze ripped through a 120-unit building on Jan. 9, claiming lives and leaving dozens of people injured. Fire officials named a space heater as the source.

Cardi B, who is a mother of 2 and still has family living in the Bronx, is teaming up with the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City to ensure these families won’t have to worry about funeral and burial costs.

“I cannot begin to image the pain and anguish that the families of the victims are experiencing, but I hope that not having to worry about the costs associated with burying their loved ones will help as they move forward and heal,” Cardi B said in a statement. “
