These twins are proof that being black is magical
Isabella and Gabriella are 7-month-old fraternal twins who are just as beautiful as can be.
They have precious smiles, dazzling gray eyes and dark, curly hair.
As unique as being a twin is, these babies have captured our attention for an additional reason: their respective skin tones.
The twins are different shades! Gabriella is dark-skinned, while her sister Isabella is noticeably lighter.
Mommy Clementina Shipley told Essence magazine that the family has been showered with positivity since the twins’ social media debut in April.
“It has been an amazing reception sharing our babies online,” said Shipley, who also has a 2-year-old named Angelina. The toddler was excited to become a big sister.
“It really shows how amazing black genes are since we can create such unique babies,” Shipley said.
The twins are already showing their different personalities, too.
Shipley said Isabella is laid back, but Gabriella hasn’t stopped moving since she began crawling at 5 months. Both, though, love giggling!
Though the family has received a lot of love online, it’s had a fair share of negative comments, too — mostly related to Gabriella’s shade.
“From time to time we’ve ran into negative comments about Gabriella’s color, if loved her and if she is considered beautiful because of her darker complexion,” Shipley said. “Also some people think they must be mixed but they are African-American. Gray eyes run in our family so two of our three children have them, once again showing how amazing African-American genes are.”
